Scottish country dancing keeps you fit, mentally and physically. It's great for singles, as there is no need to bring a partner. We have a group of over 30 dancers in Hobart.

TASCAL Scottish Country dancers meets every Thursday for a general class. An advanced group meets on alternate Mondays. We also offer a beginners course on Wednesday evenings.
BEGINNERS COURSE 

Are you a closet dancer? Perhaps you enjoy bush dances, but would like to try something a bit more complicated? If you are also physically fit and can move at speed, read on!

You will learn the basic steps and formations of this energetic dance style, and use these to dance some fun and friendly Scottish reels and jigs (quick dances).

No partner, kilt and definitely no sword required (the sword is for highland not country dancing), but you will need soft shoes, light comfy clothing and a bottle of water. It's quite ok to come on your own, as Scottish is 'social' dancing and we change partners for each dance.

The course will run on Wednesday evenings for eight weeks, Wednesday 3 February to Wednesday 23 March inclusive, 7.30–9.00pm at the Caledonian Society Hall, 31 Homer Avenue, Moonah. Cost: $80 for the 8-week course.
